The 27th annual meeting of the Task Force on Measurements and Modelling (TFMM) under the EMEP programme took place in Bled, Slovenia, from 28–29 April 2026. The meeting was hosted by the Meteorological Synthesizing Centre – East (MSC-E) in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI). Key topics included updates from EMEP Centres, aerosol chemical speciation (including secondary aerosols, condensables and CECs), the contribution of VOCs to ozone pollution in Europe, source apportionment modelling applications, and the role of natural emissions in the long-range transport of air pollution.

The MSC-E team actively contributed to the meeting by presenting progress in the Centre’s ongoing activities and engaging in discussions on current research topics and future priorities. MSC-E also presented an overview of its research and model development work, highlighting several areas: the multi-model study of mercury pollution (MCHgMAP), the downscaling of PAH pollution assessments for Slovenia, the use of moss biomonitoring for model evaluation, the impact of wildfires on dioxin pollution, and trends in marine pollution in the Baltic Sea and the North-East Atlantic Ocean. In addition, an MSC-E expert presented an ongoing study on source attribution modelling of PAH pollution in the Arctic.
