The American Geophysical Union (AGU) Annual Meeting is an international conference which presents the largest gathering of Earth & Space scientists, with over 25 000 registered attendees from over 100 countries. Jan Gačnik, a researcher from the Meteorological Synthesizing Centre – East (MSC-E), participated at the AGU Annual Meeting 2025 (AGU 2025), which was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, from 15 to 19 December 2025.
MSC-E participated in the session “General Session: Atmospheric Chemistry, Composition, Peroxy Radicals, SOA, and Ozone”, where presentations were delivered in the innovative GeoBurst format, combining a short oral pitch with an interactive poster discussion. The MSC-E presentation, entitled “Trend and Uncertainty Analysis of Reactive Mercury in the Atmosphere”, showcased ongoing research within the Multi-Compartment Mercury Modelling and Analysis Project (MCHgMAP), highlighting recent advances in atmospheric mercury modelling to a broad audience of experts.
The work was very well received, leading to several proposals for new collaborations. In addition, contacts were established with researchers interested in using MSC-E atmospheric mercury outputs in future studies, which will lead to new international research connections.
