From 16 to 18 September 2026, Mikhail Kleimenov, a researcher at the Meteorological Synthesizing Centre – East (MSC-E), participated in the 32nd Annual Meeting of the Slovenian Chemical Society in Portorož, Slovenia, where he presented recent research on the development of a high-resolution anthropogenic benzo[a]pyrene emission inventory for Slovenia to support chemical transport modelling.

The research focuses on improving the spatial r epresentation of anthropogenic benzo[a]pyrene emissions in Slovenia and neighbouring countries using spatial disaggregation techniques. By combining national emission inventories with detailed spatial datasets, an emission inventory with a spatial resolution of 0.01° × 0.01° was developed, allowing for a more detailed representation of emission patterns in urban areas.

The presentation was well received and prompted discussions on the challenges of evaluating emission inventories and accurately representing local emission patterns. The presented work contributes to a broader study assessing atmospheric pollution by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Slovenia and supports ongoing research at MSC-E on atmospheric transport and pollution by PAHs.
